Suspended three-term councillor for Ward 6 in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, Hon. Adekunle Folarin, has appealed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to lift the suspension placed on him over alleged anti-party activities.
Folarin, who was suspended alongside former Ogun State governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, for alleged anti-party activities and failure to appear before the party’s Disciplinary Committee, tendered an unreserved apology in a letter dated September 1, 2025, and made available to journalists on Wednesday.
In the letter, titled “Appeal for Lifting of Suspension Order,” Folarin said his inability to appear before the committee was due to circumstances beyond his control.
He expressed confidence that he would be vindicated after the conclusion of the committee’s fact-finding investigation.
“I tender an unreserved apology for not honoring the invitation of my ward’s fact-finding committee due to situations beyond my control,” he wrote. “I hereby request an opportunity to present my exculpatory evidence on this matter.”
Folarin assured the party of his loyalty and pledged to deliver strong electoral support for the APC in his ward during future elections.
“I have consistently upheld the party’s ethics and principles throughout my tenure,” he added. “I assure you that I will continue to work diligently and loyally for the growth and success of the party in all upcoming elections.”
Reacting to the appeal, APC State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Olufemi Nuberu, said the party leadership would consider Folarin’s request at the appropriate time.
