APC adopts LP candidate in C’River
All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State chapter has adopted Labour Party (LP) House of Assembly candidate, Brian Odey, who is aspiring to represent Yala I State Constituency.
The party Chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba, disclosed this, yesterday, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Etim Bassey Press Centre, Calabar.
Recall that the former House of Assembly member representing the constituency, Regina Anyogo, was stopped from contesting by Supreme Court over her party’s primary irregularities.
He said the party decided to endorse the Labour Party candidate because of the Supreme Court’s verdict that barred Anyogo from being a candidate in the coming elections.
Eba said: “The circumstances that befell our party only last week, where the House of Assembly seat, Yala I State Constituency was nullified by the Supreme Court. We are law-abiding.
We, as a party, accepted the development, believing there will be light at the end of the tunnel. Our party, therefore, endorse Brian Odey as a candidate of our party and LP, working together in the spirit of holy political harmony to first deliver him as a representative of Yala I.
“I am happy because leaders of Labour Party are all part of the south movement and that is why today, I call on all to support the candidacy of Prince Bassey Edet Otu as the consensus candidate,” Eba stated.
Speaking on his adoption by the APC, Odey said: “The All Progressives Congress doesn’t have a candidate contesting for that position, it is not a bad thing for them to endorse me. And number two, if you are in a mission and you see a helper, will you say you won’t help me because you are my enemy? No.”
