Human Rights lawywer cum politician , Kayode Oladele, has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is no longer a viable electoral force in Ogun State, insisting that the party has lost its appeal ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Oladele, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), attributed the PDP’s dwindling fortunes to what he described as years of internal divisions, leadership crises and lack of clear political direction.
According to him, while the opposition party remains preoccupied with internal disagreements, the APC has continued to consolidate its position through governance and the implementation of policies aimed at improving the welfare of citizens.
“The PDP is no longer a party of choice in Ogun State. The people are interested in leadership that delivers results, not a party that is permanently distracted by internal disputes.
The APC has continued to justify the confidence reposed in it through responsible governance and policies that are aimed at improving the lives of the people,” he said.
The former federal lawmaker argued that no political party currently rivals the APC in terms of performance, particularly under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
He said the Tinubu administration inherited significant economic and fiscal challenges but had demonstrated political courage by implementing reforms previous governments were reluctant to undertake.
Oladele maintained that the reforms were beginning to yield positive outcomes through improved public finances, renewed investor confidence, expande infrastructure, and increased investment in critical sectors of the economy.
“The APC remains the only political party with the courage to confront difficult national challenges. President Bola Tinubu has taken decisions that may have required sacrifice in the short term, but they are essential for the country’s long-term stability and prosperity,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that Nigerians would re-elect Tinubu in 2027, noting that continuity would enable the administration to consolidate ongoing reforms.
“I have every confidence that President Tinubu will secure another mandate in 2027.
The reforms are beginning to produce encouraging results, and Nigerians will increasingly appreciate the long-term value of the policies that are being implemented today,” he added.
Speaking on Ogun State politics, Oladele said the APC had further strengthened its popularity through the developmental projects and constituency interventions of the senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola
He described Adeola as the most experienced and widely accepted governorship aspirant in the state, arguing that his performance had redefined legislative representation.
According to him, the senator has facilitated projects across the three senatorial districts of Ogun West, Ogun Central, and Ogun East, including schools, healthcare facilities, roads, water schemes and electricity projects.
Oladele also commended Adeola’s empowerment programmes, which he said had benefited thousands of youths, women, artisans, traders, and farmers through grants, vocational training, scholarships and agricultural support initiatives.
“What Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has accomplished has raised the standard of public representation in Ogun State. His projects are visible across the state and his empowerment programmes have directly impacted thousands of households,” he said.
The APC chieftain also lauded former Ogun State governor and senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, for publicly endorsing Adeola’s governorship ambition.
He described the endorsement as a major boost to the senator’s aspiration and a reflection of growing support among political leaders across the state.
“Otunba Gbenga Daniel has demonstrated admirable statesmanship by openly identifying with Senator Yayi’s aspiration. His endorsement is a recognition of competence, capacity and proven leadership,” Oladele said.
He added that Adeola’s aspiration continues to enjoy support from political leaders, traditional rulers, professional groups, community, youth associations, and residents across the state.
Oladele expressed confidence that the APC would approach the 2027 governorship election from a position of strength, citing what he described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration, Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senator Adeola.
“I am convinced that the people of Ogun State will once again choose competence, continuity, and performance by supporting the APC in the 2027 elections,” he said.
