APC commends Fayose for immortalising Adeyinka Adebayo
• Governor declares Friday work-free
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti has commended Governor Ayodele Fayose for immortalising the late Military Governor of the defunct Western Region, Gen. Adeyinka Adebayo.
A statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun in Ado-Ekiti, said Fayose’s decision was in the right direction.
The governor recently named the new Government House and a general hospital after the late military governor, who would be buried on Saturday at Iyin Ekiti.”
He said the late Adebayo was “a war hero who preached against civil war and headed a committee for the reconstruction and reintegration of the Biafrans into a united Nigeria. He was a nationalist and a statesman who was also elected as the Chairman of the Yoruba Council of Elders.”
Meanwhile, Fayose has declared Friday, May 19, as a work-free day in the state in honour of the departed hero.
A statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi said the late Adebayo contributed immensely to the growth and development of Yorubaland.
