The last is yet to be heard of the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) over alleged abuse of office, as a member of the National Working Committee (NWC), Dr. Salihu Lukman, accused the National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, of running the party as personal estates.

Lukman, who is the National Vice Chairman (North West) of the party, particularly accused the Adamu-led NWC of rendering the party organs prostrate since assuming office last year.

He cited the refusal by the NWC to convene National Executive Council (NEC) caucus meeting, give quarterly financial reports to NEC and inaugurate the Board of Trustees (BoT), christened National Advisory Council (NAC), meeting, as some of the alleged sins he committed within the last one year.

Lukman, in a piece entitled ‘APC and Questions of Progressive Credentials’ noted: “The name of the party’s BoT has been changed to National Advisory Council (NAC) and its functions have been substantially reduced to advisory, as the name imply, at the March 28, 2022 National Convention.

MEANWHILE, an amalgamation of Northern fora of the party has urged the NWC to consider the North Central geopolitical zone for the position of the Deputy Senate President (DSP) of the 10th National Assembly.

According to the highly influential pressure group, since the positions of the Senate President and DSP must be shared between the North and the South, the North Central stands a better chance to produce a presiding officer of the red chamber.

Coordinator of the Coalition, Habibu Salau, made the appeal in a statement issued in Abuja, yesterday. He described Sani Musa, a ranking senator from the North Central, as eminently qualified to be elected either as the Senate President or Deputy.

“If the leadership of APC decides to zone the position to the South, the Deputy Senate President should automatically go to the North Central. In fairness, the North Central deserves to produce the next Senate President or DSP because of the impressive performance of the APC in the zone in the last election going by the number of APC senators produced from different geopolitical zones.”
