APC endorses Omo-Agege for deputy senate president

Ahead of Tuesday’s inauguration of the 9th National Assembly, the ruling All Progressives Congress has endorsed Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for the seat of the deputy senate president.
The decision was reached at the emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party APC held between Saturday and Sunday chaired by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
The party, in a terse statement by its National publicity secretary, Malam Lanre Issa Onilu also confirmed the adoption of Mr Muhammed Idris Wase as deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
The party explained that the decision was sequel to wide consultations with President Muhammadu Buhari, party stakeholders, including members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum.
The party had earlier endorsed the duo of Senator Ahmed Lawan and Femi Gbajabiamila as its preferred choice for the positions of senate president and speaker of House Representatives, respectively.
The party enjoined its elected members of the Senate and House of Representatives to fully mobilise as a united force behind the aforementioned candidates.
