The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has applauded the Federal Government for the stay of execution order suspending any penalty against Nigeria in respect of the $9.6 billion Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) debt judgement.

The All Progressives Congress governor’s forum chaired by Kebbi State Governor Atiku Bagudu, after an emergency teleconference meeting, described the order given by Judge Rose Cranston of the Royal Courts of Justice Strand, London as a victory for Nigerians.

The governors praised the legal team led by the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN) for the development.

The body also applauded the election of Dr. Femi Adesina as President of the African Development Bank for second term as well as the nomination of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the position of Director-General of the World Trade Organisation.

Bagudu expressed satisfaction over the achievements recorded in the execution of major national projects, including the revival of railways, 2nd Niger Bridge and Ajaokuta Steel.

He hailed Nigeria’s certification by World Health Organisation (WHO) as polio-free country, stated that the forum would continue to work with Federal Government towards the eradication of all communicable diseases in the country.

Commending President Muhammadu Buhari for setting up the APC, Executive and Legislative Tripartite Consultative Committee under the Chairmanship of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the group said the move would enhance the capacity of the All Progressives Congress to resolve its challenges and develop our democracy.
