APC group backs Bauchi senator for 2027 governorship election

A section of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has picked the Senator representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, Shehu Buba Umar, for the 2027 governorship election.

The Chairman of the APC Supporters in Bauchi Local Government, Aminu Danmaliki, while speaking, said the decision followed a careful assessment of the lawmaker’s quality representation.

The group believed Shehu Buba, aside from his legislative responsibilities, has shown commitment to the economic well-being of the citizens of the state. They added that he was the “only lawmaker who, during the economic hardship that followed the removal of fuel subsidy, supported the masses with food intervention.”

Danmaliki said: “He has equally shown interest in the education of our children by providing them scholarships both at home and abroad.”

Danmaliki urged residents of the state to complement the endorsement by registering with the Independent National Electoral Commission to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards.

“Endorsement is not enough. We must all have our PVCs to enable us to exercise our franchise,” he added.

He stated that Senator Buba is the only candidate within the APC in the state capable of overthrowing the PDP.

Also speaking, the APC Chairman of Bauchi Local Government, Sunusi Biyali, described Buba as the only party member in the state who had defended the party’s integrity in 2024.

He said, “Buba’s contributions to his constituents are commendable. He has shown leadership by identifying with his constituents and the entire APC members in Bauchi.”
Biyali expressed confidence that with Buba’s leadership, the APC stands a strong chance of reclaiming power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
