An advocacy group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s leadership to support a second term for Siminalayi Fubara, citing what it described as measurable development across Rivers State.
The APC National Vanguard made the appeal in a statement issued on Thursday by its National President, Dr Gbenga Salam, following what it said was an independent assessment of projects executed by the Fubara administration.
According to the group, its position was based on observed progress in infrastructure and public service delivery, arguing that governance outcomes should take precedence over partisan considerations.
“We respectfully urge the President and the leadership of the APC to support the continuity of Governor Fubara in recognition of his commitment to development and prudent management of resources,” the statement read.
The group said its delegation inspected a range of projects across the state, including road construction, urban renewal schemes and upgrades to public infrastructure.
It added that the spread of projects suggested a deliberate effort to extend development beyond major urban centres to underserved communities.
“Our findings indicate a government that is not only active but strategic in its development agenda,” Salam said, noting that projects reviewed showed evidence of planning and execution.
The group also commended what it described as disciplined fiscal management, arguing that the administration has delivered visible projects without signs of financial excess despite prevailing economic pressures.
It further observed that the government has maintained continuity in project implementation amid political tensions in the state, a factor it said is critical to sustaining development.
“Leadership must ultimately be judged by results,” the statement said. “In Rivers State, there is evidence of projects that move beyond announcements to actual delivery.”
The APC National Vanguard warned that a break in leadership could disrupt ongoing initiatives and slow development gains, stressing the need for policy continuity.
“Rivers State is at a stage where continuity will allow for consolidation of ongoing projects and long-term impact,” it added.
The group also reaffirmed its support for President Tinubu, expressing confidence in his economic reforms and urging Nigerians to remain supportive of efforts to stabilise the economy.
It concluded by calling on political actors to place public interest above partisan divides, arguing that performance and accountability should guide electoral decisions.
