APC Lawmakers Plot Impeachment Against Kaduna Gov

Less than 14 days to May 29, hand over date, the All Progressive Congress APC Caucus of the Kaduna State House of Assembly has unveiled plans to impeach the Kaduna State Governor, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero over an alleged misappropriation of 2.77 Billion naira SURE-P Funds.

The APC Lawmakers held an emergency press briefing yesterday, at the Lord Luggard Hall Complex of the state assembly, saying that the governor would be made to account for the squandering of the SURE-P funds.

The caucus made up of 14 APC members, and led by the Deputy minority leader of the House, Mallam Aminu Abdullahi Shagali  accused the governor of last “minute looting and squandering of public funds” in the State.

The accusation came in less than 13 days to handing over of power in the state to the newly elected Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai.

According to the APC legislators, the outgoing government was in a rush to appropriate and disburse the SURE-P funds of the 23 local governments that was unused.

“A request submitted this week by the executive arm of the honourable house to appropriate the 2014 Sure-P Funds of the 23 local government to the tune of 2.744bn is not only improper but gross financial recklessness”.
