APC mourns BOT member, ex-Imo lawmaker Onuoha

A former second republic lawmaker in Imo State on the platform of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and an elder statesman, Chief Patrick Onuoha is dead.

A former second republic lawmaker in Imo State on the platform of the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and an elder statesman, Chief Patrick Onuoha is dead.

Until his death, Onuoha was a Board of Trustee (BOT) member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and immediate past Chairman, Imo State Elders Council.

In a statement issued, yesterday, by his daughter, Nwadiuto Onuoha on behalf of the family, the deceased, who hailed from Umuchieze in Ihitte Aforukwu in Ahiazu Mbaise Council area of the state, died at the age of 79 during a protracted illness.

“We are announcing the passing of our father and elder statesman, Chief Patrick Coleman Onuoha (Ikemba Mbaise), who hails from Umuchieze in Ihitte Aforukwu in Ahiazu Mbaise Council of Imo State.

“Chief PC Onuoha, as he was popularly known, died on December 17, 2021 during a protracted illness and the family will announce his funeral arrangements at a later date,” the statement reads.

Reacting to Onuoha’s death, factional Imo APC Chairman, Daniel Nwafor, described the deceased as “an astute politician, revered community leader and technocrat, who played significant roles in the growth and development of the party, Imo State and the country.”

He said the deceased would be remembered as a man, who stood for justice, fairness and equity, adding: “His death is a great loss to Imo APC and the entire state. We will miss him and we pray God to grant his soul eternal rest.”
