SDP NEC ratifies Agunloye as national chairman
Former Governor Segun Oni of Ekiti State has said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have run out of ideas in tackling the challenges facing the country.

Oni stated this while speaking at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Social Democratic Party, yesterday, in Abuja.

At the parley, the NEC ratified a former Minister of Power and Steel, Dr. Olu Agunloye, as its National Chairman and Rufus Aiyenigba as National Publicity Secretary.

The ex-governor, who recently dumped the PDP to become the candidate of the SDP for the June 18, 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State, described the two major political parties as “colossal failures,” submitting that they had disappointed Nigerians.

He said the duo have run short of ideas, hence the need for another platform to salvage Nigeria, beginning from the Ekiti governorship election.

While urging Nigerians to embrace SDP for good governance, Oni stated: “It is unlikely that any of the existing tendencies will take Nigeria further than where they have taken it now.

“They have probably exhausted all their know-how and tricks in their books. Nigeria is ripe for a new phenomenon, and I believe that is what the SDP represents. Together, we will create a new Nigeria that will be pride for all of us. We will restore hope to the younger ones who believe Nigeria has failed them.”

On his part, Agunloye said there was need for a platform that would take Nigeria out of the current political, economic and social doldrums.

He noted that millions of Nigerians “are tired of the failure of traditional politics, and are waiting eagerly for the emergence of a platform such as SDP to rebirth hope in the citizens.”
