Ahead of the commencement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, beginning with the House of Representatives elections scheduled for Saturday, the North-Central APC Forum has expressed concerns over the conduct of the exercise, alleging irregularities in the process.

The APC House of Representatives primaries were initially scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026, but the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, announced late Thursday that the exercise had been shifted to Saturday, May 16, 2026.

No official reason was provided for the postponement. However, in a statement issued by its Chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, the North-Central APC Forum alleged that the delay may be linked to concerns about the handling of the primaries.

The Forum commended President Bola Tinubu for calling on party members to ensure peaceful, transparent and rancour-free primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the Forum, there are growing concerns among party stakeholders in several states over the management of the process, including delays in releasing the list of cleared aspirants for the primaries.

The Forum, therefore, urged the APC leadership to ensure fairness, transparency and internal democracy in order to avoid disputes that could affect party unity ahead of the general elections.

The Forum further claimed that some influential members in different states feel sidelined in the ongoing process and warned that dissatisfaction among stakeholders could create tensions within the party if not properly addressed.

The statement also referenced reports from Rivers State involving the screening of some aspirants allegedly linked to Governor Sim Fubara, while expressing concern that similar complaints may be emerging in other states.

The North-Central APC Forum called on the party leadership to address all grievances transparently and ensure a credible primary election process.
