• Group advises party to settle internal wrangling

MAINTAINING that Nigeria has not only suffered from 16 years of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) misrule, but 50 years of bad governance, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun weekend assured that the ruling party was prepared for the nation’s challenges.

Oyegun spoke during the 29th coronation and 60th birthday of the Onojie of Opoji, His Royal Highness, Aidenojie Ehidiamen 1 in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State where he reminded the audience that this is the first time a progressive party would be in charge of the country, therefore it would take some time before things begin things begin to take shape.

Oyegun spoke to the audience, which included dignitaries like the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dr. Pius Odubu, representative of the Governor of Sokoto State, former governor of Edo state, Professor Oserhiemen Osunbor, Major General Charles Airhiavbere, state chairman of the APC, Anslem Ojezua and many others.

Meanwhile, National President of Centre for Righteous Living (CRIL), a non-governmental organization in Lagos, Rev. Solomon Adegbolagun has appealed to the leadership of APC and the National Assembly to allow peace to reign.

A press release by the CRIL reminded the leadership of APC that a house divided against itself cannot stand and consequently urged them to resolve the internal wrangling and ensure that the positive change every Nigerian is expecting manifests.

Oyegun said; “It is totally a new experience for a progressive party to be in power and you know what progressive parties are like. They like debate, they like argument, they like to hear all parts of the story, this is exactly what we are going through now.

“It has brought stress there is no question about it but it has not digressed the party, it has not changed our focus, the President is committed, doing his best and very soon things will stabilise. It is unfortunate, nobody like quarrel within the part but if we have a quarrel then so be it, you quarrel, you sort out things and you move on and that is what is happening. But those thinking also that the APC will disintegrate as a result of the National Assembly crisis are jokers because we will come out stronger and better,” he stated.

He added that “People are saying that we are slow but we should all know that President Buhari intends to fulfill his electioneering promises and he does not intend to do it in a hurry because of the past years of misrule.
