Appoint ministers now to avoid economic recession, ADP tells Buhari
The opposition Action Democratic Party (ADP), yesterday, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint members of his cabinet without further delay to save the country from economic recession.
The party, in a statement by its National Chairman, Yabagi Yusuf Sani, argued that the appointment of ministers would, among others, inspire key stakeholders and attract investment by the international community and organised private sector, which would reflate the economy and save the generality of Nigerians from another round of agony and despair.
The party maintained that Nigerians can ill-afford a repeat of the 2015 scenario when Buhari delayed for nearly six months before announcing his cabinet, which the party contended, plunged the economy into recession, resulting in endemic poverty, hardship, hunger, unemployment and pervasive insecurity in the country.
ADP, therefore, urged the President to rise to the occasion and appoint his cabinet in the interest of the country.
