Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kaduna State, Isa Ashiru, has called on the people to come out en masse to vote on Saturday, March 18, 2023, despite the challenges they encountered during the presidential and National Assembly polls.

Ashiru, in a statement by the Deputy Director (Media and Publicity) of PDP Campaign Council in the state, Reuben Buhari, noted that people might be feeling demoralised about the outcome of the last election and possibly wondering why they should vote on Saturday, explained that giving up might sound tempting but would not come with any lasting reward for everyone.

According to him, PDP is prepared to end the era of hardship and bad governance in the state, as the party looks forward to occupying Sir Kashim Ibrahim House after winning the governorship elections.

He said: “If our dream is to have a secure, prosperous Kaduna, then we owe it to ourselves and our families to resolve to go and vote for the PDP.”

Meanwhile, PDP chieftain, Prof. Usman Yusuf, has warned against using ethno-religious cleavages to destroy the country’s unity, just as he condemned any attempt to coerce voters to express their civic rights with religion, during the governorship elections.

Yusuf condemned the Muslim-Muslim ticket propagated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna, and Nigeria in general, describing it as an attempt at Islamising the country and destroying the unity of its citizens.

He stated: “Every citizen must be allowed to vote for a candidate of his choice without let or hindrance, wherever he resides in the March 18 gubernatorial elections. I have no doubt that in the North these rights will be protected.

“There are some concerning signals of ethnic tension in Lagos that need to be doused before the elections. Likewise, in the South East and South-South, the rights of non-indigenes to vote freely must be protected.”
