The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Nigeria chapter, in collaboration with Mega Clima, has scheduled its yearly lecture to hold May 19-21, 2026, at Landmark Centre, Oniru- Lekki, Lagos, and grand finale on May 22, 2026.
According to ASHRAE Nigeria chapter President, Franklin Olatunji, the lecture has the theme “The Roles of National Codes, Standards and Professional Responsibility in Sustainable Building Design.”
He said that the distinguished lecturer is Dr Samir Traboulsi, ASHRAE Lebanese chapter founder and senior lecturer at American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon; alongside Farook Mehboob, 2022-2023 ASHRAE President and Chairman of S. Mehboob & Co Limited, Pakistan; Muhammad Sajid, former ASHRAE Region at Large General Chair; and Olusegun Paul Adetokunbo Ladega, Managing Director at Interstate Architects Limited, Lagos, as guest speakers.
Also, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Abayomi Akindele, said that “ASHRAE has over 50,000 members in more than 130 countries worldwide and just like the Nigerian chapter, the society and its members focus on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability within the engineering industry.”
“ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is a global society advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment.”
“Through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education, ASHRAE shapes tomorrow’s built environment today”, he stated.
Akindele further said that the ASHRAE Nigerian chapter’s 2026 distinguished lecture topic focused on the codes and standards that guarantee energy efficiency, indoor air quality and sustainability in our buildings.
Meanwhile, professionals expected to attend the distinguished lecture include Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) designers, HVAC contractors, HVAC manufacturers, HVAC sales representatives, architects, data centre designers and contractors, hotels, hospitals, healthcare facility managers, as well as oil and gas data centre engineers.
