Unknown assailants have killed and beheaded an Abia State Labour Party (LP) chieftain, Hon Maduka Zachary.The Guardian gathered that the politician was assassinated on Wednesday, at about 7:00p.m. with his decapitated head taken away.

Spokesperson for Abia State Police Command,Maureen Chilaka, who confirmed the development in a statement, yesterday, said investigations into the murder have commenced.

According to her, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Council, in a discreet information report, reported the unfortunate murder of Zachary, who was also known as Power Zack,a 70-year-old native of Ezieke Akpukpa Uturu.

She said: “The late Nmaduka was violently attacked, shot, and beheaded by unidentified assailants, while he was at a drinking joint in Amelechi Akpukpa Community.

“Upon receiving this distressing information, a joint team, comprising police and army personnel were swiftly dispatched to the scene where his lifeless body was recovered.

“Photographic evidence was captured at the scene, and the deceased’s remains were promptly evacuated and deposited at Marist Mortuary Uturu.”
