The crisis- torn Assemblies of God Church Nigeria will begin a religious summit today to rebuild the battered image of the Church.

Its General Superintendent, Rev Paul Emeka said the four days events to be attended by over 70,000 members of the church nationwide would hold at the national secretariat of the church in Enugu.

Tagged, “The grace to rebuild,” Rev Emeka added that the theme; “reflects what has been ongoing in the Assemblies of God. We have been in crisis for almost two years now and we cannot pretend. In that crisis, relationships have been battered, finances have been destroyed, structures have been disorganized and so many other things including the spiritual life of the members of the church. It is hard now having anybody saying I am of the Assemblies of God with pride.

But we say, God will give us the grace to rebuild because the Assemblies of God is a great denomination”.
Although he agreed that the crisis has lingered despite the court rulings as well as intervention from church leaders among others, he stated that the religious summit, called “Penial 2015”, would further seek ways of restoring the church to the path of greatness.
According to him, the crisis, which led the factionalization of the church, was also a moment of great lesson to the members as it did not only strengthen the resolve and belief, but in the unity to fight things that were not right.

He said; “One great lesson we have learnt is that most people in Nigeria do not have the stamina to endure crisis or adversity and that is why evil men have their way.
