Association wants inflow of imported building materials halted

Citing the need to encourage local industries, the Federal Government has been called upon to discourage importation of building materials.

National President of Association of Tilers, Nigeria, ATN, Hassan Olarenwaju, who made the call in Abuja, said that accidents which occur at home, some resulting in death were traceable to the wrong usage of building materials, especially tiles.

He lamented the influx of building materials to the country, which he described as sub-standard in the building industry and they have been detrimental to the economic growth of the country.

“Nigerians have experienced various accidents and even death in some cases, because of patronising such materials for construction, while some hire the services of quacks in the industry.”
