A NON-GOVERNMENTAL organization, Vehicle Owners Association of Nigeria (VOAN) has advised the Federal Government to offer citizenship rights to skilled African descents in the continent and elsewhere to reside and work in Nigeria with concessionary single citizenship permit.

VOAN, making this known at its inaugural and award ceremony in Abuja, however, said that the concession should be open only to Africans with clean records.

Public Relations Officer of the VOAN, Mr. Tolu Babaleye, stated that this particular incentive was what the United States of America (USA) used in attracting the world’s best brains to build her economy, adding that Nigeria has a lot to gain in throwing her doors open for skilled African workers to reside in-country.

According to Babaleye, the group, as part of its responsibility to helping to shape the nation, has planned to sponsor a bill next year at the National Assembly to promote concessionary citizenship to deserving African citizens.
