ASUU Expresses Support For Western Sahara People
THE Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that it will continue to express solidarity for the freedom and independence of the entire Western Sahara people.
This was disclosed yesterday in a press conference by the ASUU Bauchi Zone coordinator, Prof. Nanmwa Voncir to commemorate the African liberation day.
Voncir said that ASUU would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with comrades in the struggle for total emancipation of Western Sahara and its people. “We will continue to encourage diversification, deepening of relations in such a manner that will encourage human dignity and reflect the aspiration of our African brothers in Western Sahara.”
He said that their principled support for Western Sahara will be maintained through constant communication and exchange of experience, which he said informed a three-day international conference on Western Sahara being organised to hold in Abuja by ASUU between June 2 and 4, 2015.
He said that during the international conference, ASUU will renew its unshakable belief that all people have a right to existence, freely determine their political, economic and social development, adding that ASUU fully aligns itself with all United Nations and African Union resolutions on Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
