At Property Summit, experts emphasize importance of sustainable design in commercial real estate

Participants at the just concluded 9th edition of the West African Property and Investment Summit shared insightful and thought provoking conversations about the real estate sector in the country.

One of the pivotal discussions during the panel revolved around the evolving dynamics of the commercial real estate landscape in West Africa.

The CEO of Spazio Ideale, Tomi Olatunbode showed her professional expertise in the field when she contributed to the panel session titled “Commercial Real Estate in West Africa – Unpacking resilient performance and market demand”

The panel engaged in forward-looking exploration of the sources of upcoming real estate developments. The conversation also delved into the considerations and strategic planning needed to identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities in the dynamic West African market.

Specifically, Tomi Emphasized Spazio Ideale’s approach to incorporating employee well-being and productivity into their designs for the modern interior of workspaces. She explained its influence on the productivity and profitability of employers.

Expressing enthusiasm about Spazio Ideale’s dedication to sustainable design practices, she stated that the firm goes beyond mere checkboxes and prioritizes designs that have an eco-friendly impact on the environment.

To her, “Sustainable design is not just about ticking a box; it’s about creating spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing and functional but also environmentally responsible.”

To this end, Tomi agrees with the CEO of Kofisi Africa- Micheal Aldridge that there is a growing demand for shared spaces.

She noted, “The future of work is hybrid, and this has led to a decrease in the demand for traditional office spaces and an increase in the demand for shared spaces, We are seeing a lot more requests for sustainable buildings as well.”

The Director of Trillion-Suzanne Oluwole has said that, Grade A buildings must be built on the mainland in Lagos State, Nigeria. This insight reinforces the importance of strategic urban development and the role it plays in meeting the evolving demands of businesses in the region.

She also shared some insights into the resilience of the B-grade real estate sector. This neglected segment proves to be resilient. The discussion painted a clearer picture of the potential and untapped opportunities within this sector, challenging traditional perceptions.

The focus on sustainable designs and new directions in the commercial real estate market helps keep Spazio Ideale at the top of the African Market.
