Australian professionals honour Dele Alake

The African Professionals of Australia (APA) has named Minister of Mines and Solid Minerals, Dr. Dele Alake, as African Champion of the Year. The Australia-Africa Diaspora Investment Forum, which was held alongside the Africa Down Under (ADU) Mining Conference, brought together prominent leaders and professionals from across Africa and the diaspora at the Pan Pacific, Perth, on September 5 for an evening of engaging discussion and networking.

The highlight was the presentation of the Certificate of Recognition and the 2025 African Professional Champion of the Year award to Alake for his contributions to the nation’s mining sector and commitment to diaspora engagement.

The honour was presented by APA WA President, Dr. Toyosi Craig, and APA Chairman, Tommy Adebayo, with special guests, Amb. Anwar Muktar and Amb. Dr Jane Adams, Consul General of Ethiopia and Nigeria in attendance.

Alake’s keynote address was delivered on his behalf by Mr. Martin Imonite, MD/CEO of Nigeria Solid Minerals Company.  The forum also featured a panel discussion on investment, business, expert recruitment, and opportunities across Africa.
