A six-month-old girl, Aminat Oluwapelumi Shittu, diagnosed with a hole in the heart of Truncus Arteriosus Type II, needs N11 million for corrective surgery.
  
Her parents, Saheed, a 36 year old shoemaker and Agnes, 33-year-old cleaner, said Aminat fell ill in March 2022 with difficulty in breathing and was rushed to Gbaja Surulere General Hospital, where they were told about the child’s critical stage.
 
According to them, the baby was then referred to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), where she was admitted, treated and discharged.

After her recovery, she was placed on anti-failure medication to sustain her before her surgery abroad.
  
The cardiac evaluation done at LUTH showed the baby’s condition was critical and she needed surgery to correct this defect.
   
According to the report obtained by The Guardian, the baby needs an urgent open-heart surgery and trancus repairs to save her life.
  
The family doctor, Dr. Adetayo Johnson, told The Guardian on phone that the surgery will be done at Fortis Hospital, Gurgaon, Haryana, India at the cost of $13,000, while the flight ticket for the baby and the mother will cost N1million.
  
Speaking further, the mother, Agnes said they were able to raise N1.170 million after a publication in one of the dailies, but have used the money for visa and procurement of other documents.
  
According to her, the chairman of Itire-ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Dr. Ahmed Apatira, last week dropped a cheque of N500,000 for the baby’s surgery, but they require further assistance to save the baby’s life.

She said: “We are appealing to Nigerians and everyone to come to our aid and save our child, as we could not afford the money needed for her surgery in India.”
