Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has signed the 2026 budget into law.

The event, which was held yesterday at the Government House, Minna, saw the governor assenting to the N1.073 trillion fiscal plan. He had presented a N1.31 trillion appropriation bill to the House of Assembly.

According to the signed 2026 budget, capital expenditure amounts to over N783 billion, while recurrent expenditure exceeds N290 billion.

Governor Bago lauded the 10th Niger State House of Assembly lawmakers for the speedy passage of the budget.

Earlier, the Speaker, Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, praised the governor and his team for coming up with a budget estimate which he described as “the best,” noting that it was easy for them to scrutinise and that the ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) gave them maximum cooperation in making the screening a hitch-free exercise.

He commended the governor for his hard work and perseverance in providing good governance, and reassured continued synergy with the executive arm in making the state better.

Similarly, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N545.2 billion into law.

The Guardian reports that the House increased the budget by N27.6 billion from N517.5 billion, as presented by Governor Sule earlier, to N545.2 billion.

The Speaker, Danladi Jatau, announced the passage yesterday during the proceedings in Lafiay.

According to him, the bill, if assented to by the governor, would enable the current administration to initiate people-oriented projects for the overall development of the state, adding that the fiscal document would harmonise all available revenues.

He appreciated the House Standing Committees for doing well.

Jatau urged the executive arm to ensure full implementation of the budget.
