Bagudu restates commitment to fight banditry
Governor Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi State has promised fight bandits, who are making life unbearable for law-abiding citizens.
Speaking, yesterday, during a meeting of Fulani leaders at the School of Nursing, Birnin Kebbi, the governor stated that his administration has aligned with the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to eliminate the problem of insecurity in the shortest possible time.
He also announced that Kebbi government would set up a committee to identify all grazing reserves and cattle routes.
Doing so, Bagudu noted, is to resolve recurring conflicts between herders and farmers, as well as settle the nomadic Fulani in permanent locations for livestock production and animal husbandry.
The governor added that the government had earmarked N1.7 billion for assistance to Fulani, but emphasised the need for the herdsmen to embrace modernity in animal husbandry.
