Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, Senator Oji Uzor Kalu (Abia North), and Senator Sunday Karimi (Kogi West) have emerged winners in different categories of honours in this year’s Democracy Newsline Newspaper Award (DNNA), 2024. The winners emerged from opinion polls conducted by a team of experts who found them worthy of recognition.

This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by its Publisher, Samuel Olugbemi, on behalf of the management and made available to newsmen.

According to the statement, activities outlined towards the celebration of the 14th anniversary of Democracy Newsline Newspaper will commence with the presentation of awards to the listed winners on October 9, 2024 at the National Merit House, Abuja, by 10 a.m. prompt.

DNNA is an annual event wherein individuals and organisations that have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers and sectors of operation are recognized. Awards of Excellence are also given to outstanding Nigerian citizens who have excelled in their various fields of practice.

According to Olugbemi, the award investiture is the magazine’s way of identifying those that truly deserve recognition so as to encourage them to do more for the nation and humanity.

He said, “Democracy Newsline Newspaper Award (DNNA) is an arm of Michabifem Ventures Limited that publishes Democracy Newsline Newspaper and online blog bridging the gap between the government and its citizens as guaranteed by the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, being a member of the fourth estate of the realm.”

He further stated Barau has been found worthy of the award as Nigeria’s Northern Senator of the Year; Kalu as the Senator of the Year, and Karimi as the Most Security Conscious Senator in Nigeria.
