Bauchi gets 20,000 delivery kits, others from USAID
United States Agency for International Development (USAID), through its Integrated Health Programme (IHP), has donated 20,000 ‘Mama Kits’ (delivery kits) to the Bauchi State government for distribution across the 20 local councils.
IHP State Director, Dr. Siaka Alhassan, while handing over the items to the Executive Chairman of the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (BASPHCDA), Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, said it was part of USAID’s efforts to encourage more women to put to birth at health facilities.
According to him, 20,000 of the packs have been provided.
Alhassan said the arrangement was to ensure extension services with ease.
He added: “To aid such services, USAID has provided the needed support to the government through the needed items. We know that one of the challenges of women taking delivery at the facilities is footing items required during and post-delivery, such as sanitary pads, soaps and others.”
