Bauchi, April 22, 2015 (NAN) The Bauchi state Governor-elect, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, on Wednesday inaugurated transition committees in preparation for taking over the administration of the state.

Inaugurating the committees, Abubakar said that the calibre of men and women in the committees was enough to give a sigh of relief to the people of Bauchi.

Represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Nuhu Gidado, the governor-elect noted that the citizens were expecting from the leaders much more than the leaders expected from them, therefore putting up the best was no longer an option but mandatory.

According to him, the task ahead of them was enormous as it was one of ushering a new progressive government in which there was a lot of both rational and irrational expectations.

“It is a task of ushering in a new progressive government in which there is a lot of both rational and irrational expectations which have transformed into ‘entitlements’.

“They are genuine ‘entitlements’ on the part of our people,” he said.

He further said that the transition and technical committees were given terms of references that would facilitate a thorough assessment of the various issues to be handled.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the transition committee, which was the main one, comprised 41 members and was mandated to also form sub-committees.

The transition technical committee, which comprised of seven members and a secretary, would among other things, undertake an analysis of the interim and periodic reports of the main committee.

The two committees have Sen. Mohammed Mohammed and former Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Garba Gadi, as Chairmen of the Main Committee and the Technical Committee, respectively.

NAN also reports that some elected Senators, Members of the House of Representatives and other prominent members of the APC, including members of the general public, graced the occasion.
