GOVERNOR Seriake Dickson’s re-election move yesterday got a boost as a coalition of over 400 non- governmental organisations (NGOs) and civil society groups mobilised support for him at a mega rally tagged ‘Operation Reject Sylva and APC in Bayelsa.’

With membership drawn from all eight local councils of the state, the supporters, numbering 5000 converged on the popular Peace Park in Yenagoa, to demonstrate their readiness to return the governor for another term of four years at the December 5 poll.

The spokesman and former Speaker of old Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Joseph Kemeagbeye, said the groups would not rest on their oars until their goal of returning Dickson was achieved.

They commended efforts of the current administration in the state, especially in the areas of peace and security, education, primary healthcare and job creation, stressing that these necessitated their call for his re-election.

Responding, Dickson expressed appreciation to the organisers of Save Bayelsa Movement rally, describing the event as heartwarming.

He said his administration owed posterity a legacy of sustainable development, a secure future and human capacity development, which had been the cardinal objectives of the Restoration government.

While thanking the people of the state for their support over the past three and half years, the governor said the coming election would be conducted on a one man, one vote basis, submitting that there will be no room for rigging.
