The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the military of protecting suspected thugs allegedly belonging  to the All Progressives Congress (APC) who are being used to perpetrate electoral malpractices in the governorship election holding in Bayelsa.

APC’s Timipre Sylva and PDP’s Seriake Dickson who is also the incumbent  governor of the state are the the leading contenders in the election.

The PDP alleged that in spite of the 14,000 policemen deployed to the State to providese security during the polls, the thugs appear to operate without hindrance.

” Where are the 14,000 policemen deployed to Bayelsa State 4 this election? Why have APC thugs become more powerful than our security agents?

“Why are soldiers escorting APC thugs round?

“They said they posted 14,000 policemen, hundreds of soldiers and DSS to police Bayelsa but APC thugs shooting everywhere unchallenged,” PDP said on its verified Twitter handle.

Meanwhile,   officers of the Joint Task Fonce in Bayelsa have arrested five political thugs  with 136 hand grenades, two AK 47 riffle magazines.
