BBC Imo Guber Debate: Nwosu vows to surpass Okorocha’s record 

The governorship candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, has vowed to surpass the achievements of the incumbent Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, if elected. 

Speaking at a debate organised by British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) News Igbo held at Owerri, yesterday, Nwosu promised to address issues of unemployment, security, economy, health, pension, education and infrastructure, among others. 

He said he would not only consolidate on the development efforts of the present government, but also advance the state’s development and ensure adequate welfare of the people. 

Nwosu said he would involve the church in the education system, ensure steady electricity supply, portable water, free medicare for children, pregnant women and the aged, as well as pay generally approved minimum wage for Imo workers. 

Nwosu insisted that he is the most qualified and credible person to govern Imo after Okorocha, his father-in-law, citing his antecedents in his over seven year of service under the present government as proof that he will deliver when elected. 

Meanwhile, other invited candidates, such as Senator Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Emeka Ihedioha of People Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Hope Uzodinma of All Progressives Congress (APC) failed to grace the exercise. 

It was gathered from the organisers that the candidates were duly informed about the debate and none of them gave reasons for their absence.
