Mr. Haruna Yerima, APGA party chairmanship candidate in Kuje Area Council election in FCT, has urged residents to be their brother`s keeper as they celebrate Easter.

The chairmanship contender made the appeal in Kuje on Saturday during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He appealed to the people in the area to avoid any form of behaviour that could disturb public peace before, during and after the Easter celebrations.

Yerima also called on his supporters to conduct peaceful campaigns and avoid any behaviour that could trigger violence with opponents.

“As we celebrate Easter, I call on the residents to be their brother’s keeper and avoid any behaviour that will contravene peace.

“Easter is a time of celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and should be enjoyed to its fullest, “ he said.

On the postponement of the election, Yerima said that it was a welcome development as it would give candidates more time to reach out to many communities that had been hitherto left out.

“The election postponement is a normal thing; it will allow INEC to properly prepare for the conduct of elections.

“The postponement has not affected the party’s plan in any way; instead has given more time to reach communities that were yet to be reached,“ Yerima said.

He urged his supporters to exercise their franchise during the April 9 elections and avoid any form of electoral malpractice.
NAN recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission had shifted the FCT Area Council election from March 19 to April 9.
