NIGERIA’S reigning beauty queen, Miss Diamond Okoh, has decried the living condition of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Bakassi, Cross River State.

The queen, whose priority is on the IDPs in Nigeria, said her intention was to provide psychological, social and economic succour through her pet project, “Go the extra mile with Diamond.”

At the Bakassi Returnee Camp at Ikot Eyo Edem in Akpabuyo Local Council of the state where over 2,000 persons are camped, Okoh was visibly aghast by the low level of human dignity and the suffering of the people.

She described the socio-economic status of the inmates as “appalling” noting that “the IDPs camp was not dignified by any standard.”
