KOGI State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has dissolved all the state’s Boards and Parastatals barely two days after he took over the mantle of leadership.
Bello directed all political appointees, members of boards and parastatals to handover to the most senior officer in their offices with immediate effect.
Bello also reinstated 15 local council chairmen sacked by his predecessor, former Gov. Idris Wada, for decamping to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The directive was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fanwo Kingsley Olorunfemi.
The statement said the Governor issued the directive through his Chief of Staff, Mr. Edward David Onoja.
The action, according to the statement, became imperative to enable the new government kick-start the restructuring of the boards and parastatals where necessary.
The statement adds: “This is to also enable us take stock of the state of the boards with a view to starting the process of repositioning them through new hands for efficiency and service to the people.”
It noted, however, that the directive does not affect three statutory boards and the Accountant General of Kogi State. The boards not affected are the Judicial Service Commission, Civil Service Commission and the State Independent Electoral Commission.
The Governor expressed gratitude to the chairmen and members of the boards and parastatals for their services to the people of state.
He assured the people of the state of the readiness of his administration to move the state forward in a new direction.
