The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello-Koko and the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) counterpart, Dr. George Moghalu, among others, would receive this year’s Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) awards.

The yearly conference, which is scheduled to hold on December 19, 2022, in Lagos, has as theme, ‘Maximising Nigeria’s Blue Economy Through Automation’.

Chairman, conference organising committee, Ismail Aniemu, said the event would attract high net worth guests in the maritime, transport and oil and gas sectors.

He said deserving Nigerians, working hard to reposition and change the narrative in different sectors of the economy would be honoured at the conference.

He added: “In line with AMJON conference schedule, there would be paper presentations by Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of government agencies and organisations such as, NIMASA, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and SON, among others.

President of AMJON, Paul Ogbuokiri, who urged stakeholders in the industry to participate fully, said germane issues affecting the sector would be dissected and way forward charted.

Ogbuokiri added that policy formulation and execution of developmental programmes by key agencies of the Federal Government are some of the factors that would be x-rayed at the conference.

“There is so much that could be achieved if we get our national policies right and resources deployed to harness the huge potential that remain fallow across sectors,” he said.
