Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has promised workers in the state civil service better welfare and prompt payment of their salaries, because, according to him, “every labourer deserved his wages.”

The governor, who stated this through a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kingsley Fanwo, spoke in support of the ongoing staff verification exercise, which he said was in the interest of workers and the state government.

Bello said the exercise was necessary to ascertain the number of workers on government payroll.

He commended the workers for their patience and cooperation with the screening committee, assuring labour of better days ahead.

The governor said wage is the right of every worker, reiterating the commitment of his administration to ensure civil servants earn their wages regularly.

According to Governor Bello, no government can succeed without the cooperation of labour, referring to the public service as “the most critical backbone for the implementation and execution of development plans and programmes.”
