Benue lauds Dangote’s pact with host community

The Benue State government has hailed the resolve by the Dangote Cement’s Gboko plant to scale up its corporate social responsibility to the host communities.

Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Aondowase Kunde, described the initiative as “laudable.”

To formalise its resolve, the cement plant, had on Wednesday before community leaders, traditional rulers, elders and youth leaders, officially signed an agreement with six of its host communities to promote development and mutual cooperation.

Plant Director of Dangote Cement, Gboko, Louise Raj, in his address, sued for cooperation from the host communities to enthrone a peaceful and mutually beneficial company, and host relationship.

President of Yion Development Association, Orver Yongu, lauded the company for the initiative, noting the negative impact of its mining activities.

President-General of Jemgbagh Development Association, Yandev Amaabai, also praised the initiative, observing that the pact between was the first of its kind since the firm was established 44 years ago.

The Ter Gboko, Gabriel Shosum, represented by the Mue Ter, Ikpa Ahua, pledged the cooperation of the host community and advised the company to sustain its own part of the agreement.
