Benue Speaker urges Muslims to be obey God as they celebrate Sallah

Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Terkimbi Ikyange has called on the Moslem Omar not to forget the origin of the festival, which symbolises the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his only son as an act of obedience to God.

Ikyange, who made the call in a goodwill message to the Moslem community in the state as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, also said that their sacrifice would be for the betterment of the state and to the glory of God.

He stated that as the Moslem community in the state joined their counterparts in other parts of the country to celebrate this holy festival, they should not just think of what would solely benefit them, but should also think of what would benefit their neighbours and the society at large.

The Ushongo representative explained that the uncommon willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his only child in obedience to Allah after many years of expectation, disillusionment, anxiety, but hope in his maker for the gift of a child highlighted the values of sacrifice, obedience, patience, love, piety and selflessness.
