Bill for university of livestock and agriculture in Taraba passes Senate first reading
A bill proposing the establishment of the Federal University of Livestock, Agricultural Technology and Entrepreneurship Development in Mutum-Biyu, Taraba State, has successfully passed its first reading in the Senate.
Sponsored by Senator Haruna Manu, representing Taraba Central Senatorial District, the bill was among the first to be addressed by the Senate after resuming from its long recess last Tuesday. Manu was Deputy Governor of Taraba State from 2015 to 2023.

Titled Federal University of Livestock, Agricultural Technology and Entrepreneurship Development, Mutum-Biyu (Establishment) Bill, 2024, the legislation is aimed at enhancing food security and boosting Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
If passed into law, the university will offer high-quality education and research focused on livestock agriculture and agricultural technology. It will also emphasise practical skills and innovation in agricultural entrepreneurship, contributing to rural development and economic growth.

The university will provide diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate degrees, fostering collaboration with local and international institutions to address challenges in agriculture and entrepreneurship.
