Board to prosecute water pipe vandals in Kebbi

Water-1-05-04-15-CopyThe Kebbi State Water Board is to prosecute water pipe vandals in order to curb disruption of water supply to the people.

Alhaji Muhammoud Gwandu, the General Manager of the board, stated this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.

He warned those in the habit of tempering with water connections to desist from such act forthwith.

He stressed that vandalism had interrupted stable and constant water supply to the metropolis.

“The board will embark on constant surveillance of water installations to prevent destruction of facilities that cause hardship to the society.’’

Gwandu assured that the high-pressure water pipes that supplied water from the Dukku Water Works would be upgraded, adding that the pipes would soon be installed to boost water supply.

He said the board would sustain provision of water treatment chemicals and other necessary supports that facilitate healthy water supply.

He said the board had also commenced repair of some damaged portions of the affected pipes to ensure regular water supply.

NAN reports that water supply has been restored in Badariya,Tudunwada and Makerar Gandu in the metropolis following recent vadalism.
