THE General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Jos, Brigadier-General Mohammed Sani Aliyu, has said that what happened last weekend when Boko Haram terrorists detonated bombs that killed many people in Adamawa and Maiduguri was a desperate attempt by them to gain relevance.

Aliyu said the terrorists have been wounded and degraded but are just looking for any straw to clutch at, adding that that was the modus operandi of the insurgent anywhere in the world.

The GOC, who spoke to The Guardian at the Cantonment yesterday cited the United States where the terrorists carried out attack, adding that they could as well do that in any other country.

“What happened is just one of those things that happen with insurgents. They will look at some places where attention is not too much then they will strike just for relevance.
