Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has offered N365 million in scholarships to 300 orphans and their guardians’ livelihoods for five years.

The orphans comprise the children of fallen Civilian JTF heroes, hunters and vigilantes fighting Boko Haram in the state.

Presenting the scholarship, yesterday, in Maiduguri, Zulum disclosed that the Kaka Shehu Lawan Verification and Biometric Committee identified the orphans since November 2021.

He added that the N300 million scholarships would run for five years to secure the educational future of the orphans.

Besides, he ordered that N200,000 be given to each guardian for the orphans’ upkeep while pursuing their education.

On the livelihoods of widows, he said that N50,000 had been released to each of the orphans’ surviving mothers to restore their livelihoods.
