Buhari Leaves For South Africa For AU Summit
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari departs Nigeria today for South Africa to attend the 25th African Union (AU) Summit holding in Johannesburg.
A statement in Abuja yesterday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said Buhari would be embarking on his first continental assignment since taking office by chairing the meeting of the Peace and Security Committee of the AU Summit today.
Besides, he is also expected to hold a number of bilateral meetings that would consolidate his ongoing drive to secure Nigeria and the neighbouring countries from Boko Haram. The theme of this year’s AU meeting is on the issue of security. The President would return to Nigeria on Tuesday morning.
