Ogun State government has concluded all arrangements to receive President Mohammadu Buhari who is to pay a working visit to the state today to commission some laudable projects in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the state.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa who spoke to journalists in Abeokuta mentioned the projects to include six-lane roads, flyovers, modern markets and “model” secondary schools.

The Ijebu Monarch, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona is to host the President today to a private luncheon at his palace, Ijebu-Ode as part of activities lined up for the day.

Adeoluwa, a lawyer who titled his speech “Operation 40, 40” affirmed that the 50 hectare palm plantation at Ipokia, Alagbagba’s cocoa plantation in Odeda Council area and the multi-billion naira Degun Workers’ Estate, Ijebu-Ode and the Three Hills Estate would also be commissioned by the President who is scheduled to spend two days in the State.

Buhari, he said would arrive the State on Monday, February 1.

The government’s scribe disclosed that there were 100 on-going projects of which 60 had been completed but the government chose to commission the 40 to mark the anniversary.

A statement by the Media Co-ordinator of the event, Mr. Tunde Oladunjoye yesterday indicated “This is the first time that President Buhari will be hosted to a luncheon by any traditional ruler in Nigeria since he became President on May 29, 2015. The royal fathers in Ijebu land, Otunbas, members of the Council of Chiefs and select personalities have been exceptionally invited to the luncheon, which will hold at the Banquet Hall of the Awujale Palace by 2.00 p.m.”
