President Muhammadu Buhari has said that Nigeria is close to ending attacks from Boko Haram in spite of recent attacks by the group in some parts of the North, a statement said in Abuja on Wednesday.

The statement was issued by Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.

It said the president made the statement while conveying his sincere and heartfelt condolences to all Nigerians who lost relations in the latest terrorist attacks in Jos, Kano, and Zaria.

“The president is convinced that with recent increases in troops’ deployment, improvements in the supply of arms and equipment to the military, as well as the ongoing effort to mobilise greater international cooperation and support, the end of Boko Haram and terrorism in Nigeria is in sight.

“He calls on Nigerians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons to security agents as his administration continues to give the highest priority possible to eradicating Boko Haram and ensuring greater security of lives and property across the country,’’ the statement added.

According to the statement, Buhari joins the relations in mourning their loved ones brutally murdered in the suicide bombings and attacks which have also caused horrifying injuries to others.

The president urged Nigerians not to be disheartened by the seeming resurgence of terrorist attacks and atrocities in the country as his administration remained fully committed to overcoming the challenges of insecurity, terrorism and insurgency as quickly as possible.

He noted that already, the intensified onslaught by the military on terrorists’ strongholds had led to significant seizures of weapons and vehicles, a blockage of their sources of arms and ammunition and a decimation of their fighting men.

Buhari assured Nigerians of the ability and readiness of the armed forces and security agencies to contain the“ frantic resort by the terrorists to attacks on soft targets, such as crowds and places of worship’’.

We have heard this story before the elections and after the elections. PMB cannot defeat BH. If it can be argued that he did not create BH, evidences abound that he gave moral support to BH while weakening the hand of the past Admin to fight it. His statements are in records of history. Another reason is that BH has a substratum from which it feeds. That fertile ground supporting BH, al Qaeda, Al Shaabab, ISIS and others, is the Islamic religion. To wipe out BH and other insurgent groups around the world will require wiping out Islamic religion. Of course, PMB cannot join in such effort and such effort cannot come from one government in the world. It must come from say; United Nations that will form a world wide multinational force. UN cannot, of course, take a resolution to wipe off any religion. So such destruction will come by subterfuge and ‘sucking’ in of fringe supporters. It may also come by mutual destruction of Muslims by Muslims. The scenarios described is already being played out in the Middle East. PMB should not boast of defeating BH. It is not possible.

The sure way to defeat Boko Haram is to go by their tactics. The Government needs to appeal to the Muslim community to rise up and fight Boko Haram whilst planting bombers amongst their midst to cause division and confusion; a taste of their own medicine. Muslims should understand that Boko Haram is Mai Tatsine and should therefore not be surprised by their disregard for the Muslim Ummah! That is why they attack mosques and kill other Muslims just as their ancestors always did. The generality of Muslims should be sincere enough to turn against them if this war is to end. The military can only destroy physical bases, structures but not unknown persons and therefore not the entire group. This is true because you cannot win guerrilla warfare using conventional means. If BH were brave enough to fight only conventionally, the army would have long defeated them. I predict that splinter groups will arise causing the downfall of BH.
