Two Female Suicide Bombers Kill Three Villagers, Injure Nine Others
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, enjoined the people of the three Northeast states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe affected by the Boko Haram insurgency to remain steadfast and have faith in the federal government’s resolve to defeat Boko Haram even as the insurgents intensified their bombings.

Two suspected female Boko Haram suicide bombers, yesterday, in Dala Yadzaram village of Borno state detonated a ‘hidden’ Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), killing three people and injuring nine others at about 7.49 in the morning.

The President, who sent a delegation to Adamawa and Borno states, to condole with their governments and people over the increased bombing activity by Boko Haram terrorists, strongly appealed to the locals to share in the responsibility of securing their surroundings.

The leader of the delegation, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Engineer Babachir David Lawal, directed all communities to be security conscious and note strangers in their midst.

The President recalled that community policing was a practice that worked well in past in securing neighborhoods and local communities.

“The ward head, the village head and the local police knew every new entrant into the community. They kept tabs on them and detected traits of criminality before evildoers get the chance to act against common interest. We must go back to those rudimentary acts of local policing,” the President said, adding that the job of securing life and property is too important to be left to security officials alone, and, as such, they must be assisted in their duties.

One of the suspects in the Borno village attack was arrested by the local vigilante and handed over to the military for interrogation and investigations, according to Ibrahim Musa, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

Dala Yadzaram, is farming and herding community, 15 kilometres west of Maiduguri, the state capital.

“The villagers were shocked and terrified when they woke up to a bomb blast that rocked the entire village square and market.
