Buhari visits Imo on Thursday as Uzodimma urges South East to embrace APC

President Muhammadu Buhari will visit Imo State on Thursday, September 9, 2021 to inaugurate some completed projects of the Governor Hope Uzodimma administration.

Uzodimma, who disclosed this at the weekend in Owerri, on his arrival from Abuja, said the state government had secured the presidency’s approval for the visit.

“We have secured approval for the President to visit Imo State on Thursday, September 9, 2021, to commission some projects put together by our Shared Prosperity Administration,” he said.

The governor urged the people of the state to give the president a rousing welcome, as Buhari will be visiting the state since Uzodimma became governor on January 15, 2020.

The Guardian recalled that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had represented the president in a function in the state earlier in the year.

Uzodimma also revealed that he had secured the World Bank approval to tackle the erosion and ecological challenges in parts of the state and construction of rural roads.

He said in an attempt to ensure that the impacts of World Bank project are felt through the NEWMAP project, the President also assured of visiting the state personally to inaugurate some projects completed by his administration.

He, therefore, urged the political stakeholders and indigenes of the Southeast geo-political zone to embrace the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to attract a better deal for the region.

Uzodimma stressed that he would ensure that he was committed to spreading the message of what the Southeast people would gain if they embrace APC government in all the states.

“Our desire in Southeast is to join the national politics and those of us in the committee are doing our best to convince our people in Anambra State that we will be better for it if we are in the APC.

“Joining the party at the centre will enable Southeast leaders to better manage the welfare and trust of their people,” he said.
