Yordanov, who gave the commendation during his two-day visit to Akure, Ondo State capital, praised the NGO’s efforts in supporting widows across Nigeria. He also commended the organisation for creating job opportunities through self-empowerment programmes, including the establishment of a four-star hotel where many widows are employed.
The ambassador, while touring the premises of the hotel at Oba-Ile in Akure North Local Council of the state, lauded Britt Schulze-Adesida and Adetayo Adesida, the proprietors of the organisation, for their outstanding initiatives that bring joy and smiles to the widows’ faces.
Also at a meeting with the widows’ group at the palace of the Akapinsa of Ipinsa, Oba Omoniyi Olufunmilayo, Yordanov expressed gratitude to the monarch for hosting the organisation in the community.
Yordanov, who visited the widows’ training centre and shop, where they sell crafts produced by them and colleagues from other countries, noted the organisation’s significant impact. He, however, commended their resilience and noted the admirable spirit and qualities of Nigerians, stressing the need for continued support for Heart for Widows International and other organisations to further their mission of improving widows’ welfare.
The envoy, who acknowledged Nigeria’s fertile soil and encouraged the women to continue in their efforts, especially in cocoa farming, harped on the strong bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Bulgaria in cultural, economic, and educational collaborations. He sought further cooperation between the two countries.
